This year we have already helped ten people, four of whom in the last eight weeks. All gay men with HIV who did not have the money for much needed food and medical help. An overview.
Since the appointment of a part-time coordinator in Cambodia, the number of applications for emergency aid from our target group has increased considerably. In total, we already provided food and medical aid ten times this year, and we paid twice for a funeral.
The last requests for help came from Phnom Penh, Bantey Mean Chey, Battambang and Kampong Cham. From the last province (pictured above) we had never before received a request for help.
All applications concerned gay men, aged 27 to 56 years. The men worked in a garment factory, in a nightclub, as a builder and one as a journalist. Two men were only diagnosed with HIV after they became ill. One of them came back sick from Thailand after his partner had died.
All four of them received food and medical aid, as well as a contribution for their travel expenses.
