This week we helped a 42-year-old tuktuk driver who needed urgently hospitalization because he was seriously ill with TB.
January is usually a quiet month at Untenu. This year not: already five times we released budget for emergency relief for LGBTIs living with HIV in Cambodia. Below we tell the stories of three men who were admitted to the hospital recently.
Untenu Foundation is involved in Cambodia’s LGBTI community, specially those who are living with HIV. The L in LGBTI is an underexposed group. Lesbian women have the least risk of being infected with HIV in most countries. In Cambodia however, that is different. Yesterday Untenu helped an HIV-positive lesbian woman in the coastal town of Sihanoukville.
Recently the Board of Untenu Foundation has appointed the members of the Advisory Board, after the Rules of Procedure was adopted. Yesterday it was confirmed in a joint meeting which also adopted the Annual Report 2015 and Work Plan & Budget 2016. Untenu full steam ahead!
Through CamASEAN we received a request to help a transgender in Kandal who had a severely weakened condition. After being tested on HIV she appeared to have a viral load of less than 100, diagnosis: AIDS.
Working with people in Cambodia is sometimes a challenge. Much is going well, but there are limits to aid in Cambodia. Limits we now face.
