Corona: massage parlors closed, tourists away, no sex work.

Posted on 05.15.20 by Ron van Zeeland

All massage parlors in Cambodia had to close due to the government implemented corona measures. Sex workers sometimes finds their clients at massage parlors. This is what Transwoman T.P.  from Siem Reap did to support herself and her family.

Sex work is prohibited, making money even more difficult because of corona

Siem Reap is normally a bustling tourist city. Now that all tourists are gone, sexworkers like T.P.  hardly finds any clients.

When she fell ill, it was impossible for her to bear the medical costs. Her financial income was dwindling. Untenu has decided to pay the medical costs and also provide food aid because her work provides financial support for her and her family.

Sex workers with HIV are experiencing extra hard times from the coronavirus. Untenu continues to help.
