For Untenu Foundation, a fundraising campaign has been started on Facebook to raise an amount of money of which ING Cambodia can be appointed to coordinate our work there.
U.S. Aids budget cuts
The Trump administration is making substantial cuts in the budget for AIDS programmes worldwide. It is feared that this will result in many more HIV infections and even more people dying from the consequences of AIDS. These cuts can also be felt in Cambodia. The large Cambodian HIV organisation KHANA now has a whole floor empty of its office because they had to lay off a lot of staff.
Our partner organisation Bandanh Chaktomok was well occupied with three members of staff, but has now had to dismiss all three. This also put an end to the upward trend in applications for emergency aid, at the very moment when we had made more budget available at Untenu for emergency aid and, for paid internships and training.
In order not to undo all the work and experience that has been built up, a fundraising campaign has been started on Facebook in order to be able to pay part of the personnel costs:
All assistance is welcome and will help us to continue our work on HIV-positive LHBTIs in Cambodia.
