Emergency aid to the poorest LGBTI people with HIV in Cambodia has resumed

Posted on 09.22.20 by Ron van Zeeland

Hospital in Battambang

After a break – due to lack of money – Untenu has resumed emergency aid to HIV-positive LGBTI people living in poverty in Cambodia.

After temporary stop: emergency aid granted

Last week, we released money to provide food aid to a young man from Kampong Chhnang. We also reimbursed the medical costs.

He previously worked as a sex worker in Thailand and Sihanoukville. After he stopped taking HIV inhibitors in 2016, he recently became so ill that he had to be hospitalized.

For the time being: some budget for emergency aid

There is still budget available for emergency aid for the coming weeks. Money has also been made available for training for 10 people in Battambang (see this news item).

However, money remains necessary to be able to continue our work.
