One day before Rotterdam Pride, Untenu received two help requests from Kampong Chhnang. There was found a single gay man who could not take care for his foster daughter because he was too weak. The second emergency request that we received last Friday concerned a 47 year old gay man in Kampong Chhnang. We have not supported someone in this province before.
HIV positive Gay man with foster child
B. (we don’t mention names for privacy reasons) is a greengrocer on the market. Our volunteers on the spot call him an old man. This is of course relative, but measured to the other people helped by Untenu / BC (Bandanh Chaktomok), belongs to the elderly. What B.’s situation makes special is that he is concerned with a foster daughter.
He is HIV positive and lives in a poor place with his foster daughter. The BC volunteers in Kampong Chhnang heard that he was too weak due to illness and that he could not longer work and take care for his daughter.
Untenu made money available for food and medical expenses. In addition, school fees were paid which enables his foster daughter to continue to go to school. The expectation is that when B. has been recovered, he can start as a greengrocer on the market again.
Support our work for HIV+ LGBTI in Cambodia
If you want to support our work, you can transfer an amount in several ways. With this money, we continue to provide emergency aid to Cambodian LHBTIs with HIV living in poverty. The assistance is being carried out by local volunteers from our partner organization Bandanh Chaktomok (BC).
