In Kampong Chhnang, a Cambodian province, lives a mother with her son and transgender daughter, All three members of this ‘rainbow family’ are HIV positive. The mother fell ill; Untenu helped with a contribution towards medical and other costs.
For the third year in a row, Untenu Foundation – together with the Mara Foundation and the Humanitas Foundation – is organizing AIDS Candlelight Memorial. An afternoon whith commemoration, reflection and singing together. On Sunday, May 20, everyone is welcome from 3 pm on the Pieter De Hoochweg 110 in Rotterdam. The entrance is free, as well as the food and drinks.
Yesterday Untenu made money available to help the mother of a young gay man. Both mother and son are HIV positive, mother became ill and can no longer work. Four members of the family are now dependent on one minimum income.
Fund raising for Untenu Foundation in December: Willems-Koop Fund allocated money for Untenu’s overhead costs and a fund raising activity in a Mennonites church during a LGBT Advent service. The ambassadors of Untenu raised money with a performance on World Aids Day. (video)
Today Untenu has granted money to BC (Bandanh Chaktomok – National LGBT Network Cambodia) to help an HIV positive transgender sex worker with medical assistance so that she will be able to start working again after recovering.
Some people are not good informed about the way to use ARV. Once they feel better, some people stop using their HIV-medication. And then they’ll get sick again. Yesterday Untenu and Bandanh Chaktomok gave food and medical aid to a 30 years young gay man because he got seriously ill when he stopped taking his ARV.
Good news from the Untenu board: two persons expressed their willingness to become a candidate for a function on the board, Xandra Visser (48 y.o.) and Rajesh Ramaneti (42 y.o.). They are going to run on trial with Ron van Zeeland (chairman) and Willy Lourenssen (treasurer) till the end of this year. If the mutual experiences turn out to be positive, they will be appointed as respectively treasurer and member of the board on January 1st, 2018.
At Rotterdam Pride, Untenu Foundation has collected €500 for LGBTI with HIV who are living in Cambodia in poor circumstances. This helps Untenu support more LGBTI with emergency assistance and education. The amount that we collected has been raised by our hairdresser Ferdi and by selling hand woven rainbow scarves from Cambodia and by donations.
