Sychai didn’t survive

Posted on 05.26.16 by Ron van Zeeland

You’ve all seen him on the slide show on our front page: Sychai. Yesterday we heard the news that he has deceased two days ago. He was far too young, he leaves a wife behind.

Although living with HIV under poor conditions, Sychai was a strong man. But poverty has a price, especially for LGBTs living with HIV, not seldom earning a living as sex worker. Untenu Foundation provided Sichay last year with emergency aid, after he stopped using his ARV when he had no money to collect his medication from the hospital. His condition worsened nevertheless early 2016. And now he is no longer with us.

We bring our condolences to his wife, and if necessary we will assist the bereaved.
