Untenu Foundation is involved in Cambodia’s LGBTI community, specially those who are living with HIV. The L in LGBTI is an underexposed group. Lesbian women have the least risk of being infected with HIV in most countries. In Cambodia however, that is different. Yesterday Untenu helped an HIV-positive lesbian woman in the coastal town of Sihanoukville.
With the signatures of Yasethadavuth Davuth (l), vice chairman of Bandanh Chaktomok, and of Ron van Zeeland (r), chairman of Untenu Foundation, the Memorandum of Agreement is a fact. Both parties formalized their relationship for six months and intend to extend this for the rest of 2017 and 2018. Bandanh Chaktomok is now the official partner organization to work with Untenu on emergency aid for LGBTI’s living with HIV under poor conditions in Cambodia.

On Sunday, May 15 the AIDS Candlelight Memorial 2016 was held in the city of Den Bosch, capital of the province Northern Brabant. It was organized in a small theatre by Untenu Foundation, COC Northeast Brabant (local branch of Dutch LGBT-association) and HVNBrabant (branch of Dutch HIV Association).
International AIDS Candlelight Memorial
The third Sunday of May AIDS victims will be remembered world wide at International AIDS Candlelight Memorial. This year at May 15, a memorial evening will be held in the city of Den Bosch (capital of the province Noord-Brabant) in the Netherlands. Organized by Untenu Foundation, COC Noordoost Brabant in cooperation with the local branch of the HIV Association Netherlands. The Cambodian documentary ‘Karma?’ (about a transgender sex worker living with HIV) will be shown, and a benefit show by the drag queen duo Meander & Bijoux. Location: ‘Bij Katrien’, Triniteitstraat 19, close to Sint Jan’s Cathedral, starting at 8 PM.
Recently the Board of Untenu Foundation has appointed the members of the Advisory Board, after the Rules of Procedure was adopted. Yesterday it was confirmed in a joint meeting which also adopted the Annual Report 2015 and Work Plan & Budget 2016. Untenu full steam ahead!
Untenu has granted three new requests for assistance the past month: medical and food assistance, repair moped, Buddhist funeral ceremony.
The Untenu Fundraising Event raised € 500, – last Sunday in Den Bosch, the Netherlands. Through a lottery, a performance of drag duo Meander & Bijoux, a generous donator and a contribution of COC North-East Brabant, the local LGBT group.
