Three times emergency aid

Posted on 01.20.19 by Ron van Zeeland

January is usually a quiet month at Untenu. This year not: already five times we released budget for emergency relief for LGBTIs living with HIV in Cambodia. Below we tell the stories of three men who were admitted to the hospital recently.

Early January Untenu relesed money for the funeral of a gay man who died of the consequences of TB and AIDS (see here). It did not stop there.

In the second week of 2019, three requests for help came in: from two gay men and one bisexual man, all living with HIV.

H.S. from Prey Veng, a 30-year-old cook, H.R. from Battambang (38), who worked as a construction worker in Thailand and L.H. from Phnom Penh who worked as a cleaner in a karaoke club.

All three ended up in the hospital. The contributions from Untenu were very welcome for, among other things, medical costs.

Hopefully they can start working again soon.
